Restoring Quality of Life

Pain can affect every aspect of your life. Whether this is due to a chronic condition, arthritis, back issues, nerve problems, or conditions such as fibromyalgia.

No two people react the same to pain and care needs to be individual. Alongside medical diagnosis, your consultant will wish to understand your circumstances, symptoms and needs.

Treatments can range from medication, or pain relief injections, to physiotherapy or psychological support. Different approaches can be combined, if this is best for you.

There is no single rule for treating chronic pain, other than the objective should be to restore your quality of life.

Your ability to choose activities matters, or simply to sit undisturbed and view the world as a pleasant place. Pain is a barrier to both, which needs to be lifted.

Chronic Pain Conditions

You may come to us due to chronic pain, or are also seeing a neurologist, orthopaedic surgeon, or other specialist. Our pain management team are there to help whatever the position, or cause, which can include:

  • Arthritis
  • Physical injury
  • Back & neck pain
  • Headaches & migraine
  • Muscle pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Nerve damage
  • Psychogenic pain

Diagnosis & Treatment

Electromyography to test muscle activity could be helpful, as can nerve conduction studies, or blood and urine analysis. Listening to you is equally important, to find effective treatment which may include:

  • Pain relief injections
  • Specialist medication
  • Physiotherapy
  • Psychological support
  • Nerve stimulation
  • Nerve blocking

Ongoing, recurring and chronic pain has a massive impact on your wellbeing. Finding the root cause of your pain means we can build a treatment plan that will work for you, through medication, physiotherapy, psychological support, or a combined approach.
