Mr Martin Logan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgery. He graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1997 and completed his basic surgical training in London at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and affiliated hospitals, gaining Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Glasgow.
In 2004, Mr Logan completed the Football Association Clinical Research Knee Fellowship, leading to the award of a higher doctorate (MD). He subsequently undertook a clinical knee fellowship at the Brisbane Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinic in Australia with Dr Peter Myers and Dr Peter McMeniman.
In recognition of his academic contribution to knee surgery, Mr Logan was awarded the prestigious John Insall Travelling Fellowship by the US Knee Society in 2008. He was also the first surgeon in the UK to introduce patient-matched instrumentation for total knee replacement surgery and has lectured on this subject nationally and internationally.
Research & Teaching
Mr Logan has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed international orthopaedic journals covering a broad range of knee surgery topics. In 2004, he was awarded first prize by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons for outstanding research in arthroscopy and sports medicine.
He has delivered presentations at major orthopaedic conferences worldwide and contributed as an author to the 5th edition of Insall & Scott’s Surgery of the Knee, published this year.
Mr Logan also completed the England Football Association Clinical Research Fellowship in Knee Surgery at St Mary’s Hospital, London, which led to the award of an MD higher degree from the University of London. His thesis focused on the analysis of kinematics in the cruciate-injured knee.
