Dr Sharma graduated in medicine from Aberdeen University, in 1992. Vocational training as a GP followed, before entering the GMC’s register in 2006.
A Howard Hughes Scholarship took Dr Sharma to Harvard Medical School in the US, as a research fellow. Her work there included publishing a paper on the molecular basis of idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy, a myocardial disorder.
Further training included a diploma in obstetrics & gynaecology and another in sexual & reproductive health. Areas which had long interested Dr Sharma and where she believes the best care should be made available in society.
Time she gave to a hospice in Worthing and a locum position as a specialist grade doctor in palliative care show her concern for others. A viewpoint which is reflected in the support Dr Sharma offers to those who visit her.
Her specialist knowledge in women’s health is valuable, although Dr Sharma’s caring nature is reflected in the way she treats every patient.

Dr Sharma works as a senior research fellow at the Royal Hollow University of London, in the School of Biological Sciences. She is involved in supervising and providing clinical input to BSc & Masters students and in writing research papers.
