Who Might Need an X-Ray?
X-rays can help with the diagnosis of a wide range of conditions including:
- Broken and fractured bones
- Chest conditions
- Sprained, or dislocated joints
- Tumour growth
X-Rays Without External Referral
Patients can self-refer to any of our consultants, who can then refer you for an X-Ray. You do not need to be referred by your own doctor, or GP.
Private X-Ray Fees
A private x-ray at The New Foscote Hospital costs from £123, depending on requirements. You will also need to see one of our consultants, in order to be referred for an x-ray.
You can self-refer for a consultation, which typically cost between £150 and £250, This will naturally cover more than just a need for imaging.

How to pay
There are two ways to pay for your treatment at The New Foscote Hospital, through medical insurance, or self-payment.
For those with an insurance policy which covers x-rays (most do).
For those choosing to fund their own medical imaging.
What to Expect On The Day
X-rays are an outpatient procedure, you simply come to the hospital for imaging and can leave again once the x-rays are complete.

Preparing For Your X-Ray
Unless advised otherwise, on the day of your x-ray you can eat, drink and take medication as you normally would. Please inform us If you think you may be pregnant, as x-rays are not recommended during pregnancy.
Before your x-ray you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire, which is simply part of our safety procedure.

During Your X-Ray
X-ray procedures vary, depending on the part of your body being scanned. The radiographer will explain how you should stand, or lie down and ensure you are comfortable,
Careful positioning ensures that your x-rays are taken from the correct angle. All you need to do is stay still for a second, whilst the machine is operated from behind a screen.

After Your X-Ray
Once your x-rays are complete, you will be able to go home. Our expert radiologists will examine the results and discuss them with your consultant. They will be in touch quite quickly, with your diagnosis and to discuss next steps if needed.
