As with all consultants in the oral & maxillofacial field, Mr Selbong is qualified in dentistry and medicine. His medical degree coming from the University of Manchester, in 2009, before in depth specialist training.
This included time at the respected East Midlands Deanery, working in major teaching hospitals. An opportunity to support patients and hone skills, in the fields of orthopaedics, trauma, general surgery and vascular surgery.
Mr Selbong was admitted to the GMC’s specialist register in 2018, with consultant posts following. They naturally involve treating patients with head, or neck malignancy, or trauma and for areas where he has a special interest.
They include head & neck oncology surgery, facial pain, temporomandibular disorder. salivary gland surgery and particularly bone preservation, or grafting.
Mr Selbong’s skills cover a range of care, the nature of a complex medical field. The way he chooses to deliver this care is equally important, with each patient seen as unique and time spent on explaining their treatment path.
Research & Teaching
Mr Selbong completed a research degree in the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, at the prestigious Queen Mary University of London. He is currently conducting a national study on patients undergoing rehabilitation, following major reconstructive surgery.
Many published articles in peer reviewed journals match Mr Selbong’s reputation as a presenter, at national and international conferences. He was nominated for consultant teacher of the year, by the Oxford University Medical School.
