Dr Cheung graduated from the University of Cambridge and completed medical training at King’s College London. He subsequently trained in London and Oxford and completed a fellowship at the Royal Free GI Neuroendocrine Tumour unit. His clinical interests are in cancer immunotherapy, gastrointestinal adverse events, inflammatory bowel disease and advanced endoscopy.
In 2021, Dr Cheung was added to the GMC’s Specialist Register for Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He subsequently took up consultancy posts at leading NHS hospitals, which he continues alongside his work at The New Foscote.
Dr Cheung’s special interests include gastrointestinal adverse events of cancer immunotherapy, inflammatory bowel disease and advanced endoscopy. He is equally pleased to offer a wide range of support for patients with gastrointestinal conditions.
His belief in listening to patients is welcomed, helping to ensure sound diagnosis, well planned treatment and a return to health.
Research & Teaching
Dr Cheung completed research in immunotherapy-related GI and liver adverse events at Oxford and published this work in Gastroenterology, Gut, British Journal of Cancer and Frontline Gastroenterology.
Research interests include IBD surveillance and immune checkpoint inhibitor colitis. He is a sub-investigator on a number of IBD clinical trials at the Oxford IBD Clinical Trials’ Facility.
Dr Cheung is accredited as a Bowel Cancer Screening colonoscopist and leads the weekly IBD surveillance multi-disciplinary teams at Oxford University Hospitals. He also leads a tertiary GI liaison service for immune-related adverse events, managing patients from the Oxford Cancer Centre and other regional centres.
