Dr Sabharwal trained in medicine at Oxford University, graduating in 1996. His interest in cardiology led him to study this discipline in Oxford and the London area.
He was a Senior Cardiac Imaging Fellow at Harefield hospital in 2009, before being added to the GMCs specialist register in the same year. He took up consultant cardiologist posts within Oxfordshire soon after.
Dr Sabharwal’s deep interest in cardiovascular imaging (echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT) has been maintained throughout his career.
Imaging plays an essential role in the successful diagnosis and treatment of heart disorders, including coronary artery disease, valve disease and heart failure. Dr Sabharwal is equally prepared to use other tests, where his patients will benefit.
They include stress and transoesophageal echocardiography (DSE & TOE), ambulatory ECG, or blood pressure recording and cardiac stress testing. Whatever is required to ensure his patients condition is fully understood.
Dr Sabharwal is equally focused on explaining their position to patients and the best way to move forward, allowing decisions to be shared.
Research & Teaching
Dr Sabharwal is part of the Nuclear Cardiology department at Oxford University Hospitals Trust. He is the past President of the British Nuclear Cardiology Society,
He is also a member of a research team at the University of Oxford, which has developed a new type of imaging test to provide early warning of coronary artery disease and the risk of heart attack.
