Dr Marshall qualified in medicine from the University of London in 1988. Along with initial medical and surgical training, he spent time at Duke University, North Carolina, before obtaining a higher, research based medical degree in the UK in 2001.
In the same year, he entered the GMC’s specialist register for Gastroenterology and General (internal) Medicine. A dual accreditation which allows him to take an holistic overview of his patient’s issues, bringing deeper understanding.
He has served as a consultant gastroenterologist in the Oxford area for two decades. Supporting patients with a broad range of issues and offering particular knowledge on lower, or upper endoscopy, along with colonoscopy.
Those primarily diagnostic disciplines are an important step to the best gastroenterological treatment and a return to health.
The treatment Dr Marshall offers is equally valuable, for areas such as liver disease, or wider needs. Treatment he provides with accuracy and care, his patients wellbeing always his first concern.
Research & Teaching
Dr Marshall’s research into Helicobacter pylori (bacteria) in alcoholic liver disease has enabled development of a special interest in this area, along with peptic ulcer disease.
He has supervised on the Oxford Deanery specialty training program in gastroenterology and is called upon to provide medical reports to meet legal needs.
